I have 7 month old twins and being small when they were born (5lbs each) they did not stay in newborn even preemie for more than a month I used about 6 packs. When they moved up to size one it was for another month. Then they stayed in size 2 for 4 months and now that they are seven months they are in size 3. I really don't think you will need many of the newborn top it off at about 2 to 3 packs.
