You are suppose to be able to. I had this problem today with some marked down dairy items. The cashier didn't think it was ok or want to take the qs on mark downs b/c they beeped. Um, yes b/c you didn't actually scan the barcodes? I didn't say anything to this effect, just asked for a manager b/c I knew it was ok. The manager said, "did she buy the item?" Yes, "then manually enter it." If you have any problems, just ask for a manager and they should clear it up. Good luck!
