I remeber my grandmother canning when I was a kid. Let me add, that just putting the jars through the dishwasher isn't getting them clean enough, they have to be sterilized. Which I believe you do by boiling them in water. There is a funny looking tongs contraption you use to remove hot glass bottles out of the water. Please check the web or books from the library for canning info. and don't just rely on what or anyone else is saying.
