A comment on my earlier post this week “Extremely Unrealistic Expections – Let’s Get Real About Extreme Couponing” kind of caught me off guard, but in a good way.
Carol said, “I hear a lot of negatives about the Extreme Couponing Show, but here in my little town we have experienced a positive effect. Our stores are actually planning ahead and ordering MORE inventory on their Ad items. If your stores are being ‘wiped out of their ad items, don’t blame the customers. Maybe it’s time to educate the managers. Couponing is here to stay, they should be prepared for it.”
Even with all of the backlash due to “Extreme Couponing” it’s true, this could also be an opportunity for learning not only for shoppers for stores too. Over on a blog post titled TLC’s Extreme Couponing and Confessions of an Unapologetic Shelf Clearer Lisa writes, “Contact the department supervisor and tell them. I do this regularly and, for example, whenever my one grocery store does a promo on a certain kind of frozen veggie, they know I want dozens of them. I just chatted with the frozen department manager in the aisle one day, explained to him why this was a super-hot item when he ran these promos and encouraged him to order more when they are on sale. Ever since then, there has been ample supply. Use these as an opportunity to educate store personnel.”
Though I’d like to remind everyone, when contacting a manager please be super nice. You are always more likely to get positive results when you communicate in a positive manner.
